Inspiring Lessons from Navratri : Day 4 || Maa Kushmanda




The transition from fierce energies to nurturing energies in Navratri reflects the cyclical nature of growth and renewal. We need to recognize that change and growth are integral to progress and should encourage continuous learning and adaptation continually. With a high significance for inner transformation, where we need to conquer our inner demons and embrace the divine qualities of courage, compassion, and grace.

Our Day 4 manifestation of Goddess Durga – Maa Kushmanda

Her name is formed with three words —'Ku' (little), 'Ushma' (warmth) and 'Anda' (egg) which collectively symbolize her as creator of the universe.

Known as the creator of the entire universe through her mere smile and subsequently shaping other forms of life, she stands for the tremendous creative power within ourselves which can be directed to unlock our inner potential and release the energies to contribute to the larger good.

She is often depicted with eight hands, each holding different symbols, and each of these symbols carries it own significance.

·       The Mace/Gada – power and strength. The power to protect and the strength to uphold righteousness.

·       The Chakra - A symbol of time and the wheel of creation and destruction. It signifies the cyclic nature of life and the universe. constant motion

·       Jap Mala or rosary beads –  Signifies devotion, meditation, and spiritual discipline. It represents the importance of prayer and spiritual practice.

·       Pot of nectar - Amrith –  The amrith is the divine nectar of immortality. It represents the source of eternal life and spiritual energy, purity

·       Lotus – represents purity, peace and auspiciousness. It is a symbol of enlightenment and spiritual awakening.

·       Kamandalu (Divine Pot): The kamandalu represents her as the creator of the universe. It symbolizes the cosmic egg from which all creation emerges. A representation of attention, focus and self sufficiency

·       Bow / Dhanush: Signifies the mind and the intellect. It is a symbol of alertness and awareness.

·       Arrow: represents determination and focus. It symbolizes the control of desires.

 

Additionally is shown riding a lioness / tiger, denoting dharma and justice

Her illuminous presence brings about warmth, brightness and clarity providing renewed source of energy and harmony.  Dispel the darkness within and around us through the awakening of the soul. Radiate the positive energies to make our lives meaningful and eliminate the negativity or toxicity around us

These enduring learnings derived from the manifestation as Goddess Kushmanda, are a constant source of inspiration for us; urging us to harness our inherent energies for creation! Our actions and mere existence must act as a constant source of energy, not only for ourselves but also for those all around us. Be that source of energy to dispel the inner and outer darkness; Spread our radiance far and wide, commencing with our own self.
